Hi, I'm Szymon

I've always been fascinated by building things and turning ideas into something real, which is what drew me to mobile apps back in 2010. Since then, my own apps have surpassed 15 million downloads, and I've had the chance to work with companies of all sizes, from early-stage startups to well-established businesses.

I live in Racibórz, the town where I grew up. I spent 16 years in Wrocław, first studying and then working, before moving back home in 2022. My wife and I have two kids, and in 2026 a Lagotto Romagnolo puppy joined the family.

Now

  • I'm looking for my next Android role, lead or senior, on pretty much any kind of mobile app, and I can start right away.
  • I'm getting the most out of AI coding agents, building custom skills and tools, and multi-agent workflows that take a task all the way from ticket to review.
  • In my spare time, I keep my own apps up to date. As the sole owner, I can move quickly and adopt new Android and iOS features early, often well before I need them at work.

How I work

Shipping is only half the job. I want to know whether people use a feature, how they use it, and how it moves churn and revenue, and I'll change it if the numbers say so.

Scott Meyers said good code should be easy to use correctly and hard to use incorrectly. I still ask myself that every day, and I think it's why my code tends to hold up.
ux
People can tell when an app feels good, even if they can't quite put it into words.
business
I'd rather test pricing than guess, but I want people to pay because the app is worth it, not because canceling is a hassle.
people
I love sharing what I know, whether it's a quick pairing session or a full course. A team that learns together gets a little faster every month.

    feat: lead Android at Dropbox

    • Built and shared AI-agent workflows during Dropbox's company-wide shift to agents: tech specs, reviews, end-to-end pipelines where agents found gaps, filed Jira tasks and opened PRs, smoke tests in place of manual QA, and agents tracking experiment and product metrics in Databricks.
    • Led Android monetization and growth, owning projects end to end. Several purchase-funnel experiments significantly increased gross new ARR and were rolled out to all users. Also on call for revenue incidents.
    • Technical lead on Dropbox's side for Google's Early Access Programs, working directly with Google on unreleased Play monetization features and shipping several of them.
    • Led two Media3 playback programs: Motion Photos that play from any file source, and folder playback, where I reshaped the player so a folder of any size plays like an album, in the background, anywhere in the app.
    • Built a fully customizable Compose bottom sheet and toolbar that replaced the legacy component across previews for every file type.
    • Re-architected file actions on every surface of the app to run in the background, so people keep working instead of waiting on a blocking progress bar.

    • Built the Android app from scratch for a social media planning tool, as one of three engineers at a US startup, and owned it from architecture to Google Play releases.
    • Ran the app's Google Play listing: store listing optimization (ASO), publishing and listing experiments.

    Ryanair

    Android developer

    feat: grow Android at Ryanair from 3 to 11 people

    • Refactored the whole app's design system to theme attributes on my own in two weeks, so after Ryanair acquired Laudamotion in 2019, the rebranded Lauda app shipped from the same codebase about a month later, as just a new flavor and theme.
    • Led the main app's move to clean architecture, from MVC/MVP to MVVM and from AsyncTask to RxJava. The app has since passed 50 million downloads.
    • Made the team's architecture calls, interviewed engineers and mentored newcomers as the Android team grew from 3 to 11, and drove the first apps for Ryanair staff.

    • Since then it's passed 15 million downloads, with a 4.3 rating from more than 56,000 people. Diabetes and Fertility Calendar came next.
